Bristol Polytechnic Fine Art Final degree show

The picture is of the local primary school near the house that Jon shared with fellow fine art undergraduates Neil Taylor, Mark Barnett and Rory McShane in Bristol. Jon exhibited this and around a dozen other works in his final degree show at Bristol Polytechnic. Jon was awarded a first class honours degree and selected for the Royal Academy schools. he was also awarded the Bristol Painting Award.

Pavement drawing

During University breaks, Jon found that pavement drawing was a good way to earn extra money and become more acquainted with some of his favourite painters. In this Photo taken on the 13th of July, Jon and girlfriend Caroline Le Breton are pavement drawing in Covent Garden. It is a Saturday and the first live aid concert is playing on an experimental screen in the Cafe behind them. Phil remembers sorting the coins into piles at the end of the day with Jon, Caroline and Jane and the total being over £200 – a lot of money in 1985!

Naeama Mundo Cani

Jon and Art foundation friend, Ian Ashby embarked on a trip to Morocco. Around this time Jon took possession of a charming black puppy he named Naeama Mundo Cani. Jon picked up Naeama from a dogs home in Bristol.
